About CLI.LAX

An independent, free reference for the official daily high temperature at KLAX, KNYC and KMDW.

What this site is for

CLI.LAX exists to answer one question as quickly and as precisely as the underlying sensors allow: what is today's official high temperature, on the convention the National Weather Service uses to settle it? The site was built for people who follow weather-derivatives markets, where the settlement value is a specific published figure rather than a rounded app reading, but it is free and open to anyone.

Where the data comes from

All observations originate from the official airport and park sensors: the KLAX and KMDW ASOS installations (including their high-frequency one-minute feeds, relayed via the Synoptic Data network), KNYC at Central Park, the stations' METAR reports, and the NWS climatological products that publish the settled values. Forecast context comes from the NWS gridpoint forecast. No observation on this site is estimated, interpolated from other stations, or generated by the site itself.

Independence

CLI.LAX is an independent analytics tool. It is not affiliated with any exchange, trading venue, brokerage, or weather agency, and nothing on the site is trading advice. The site is funded by advertising. Settlement should always be verified against the official NWS product before acting on it.

Accuracy claims on this site are measured against the official record and published on the dashboard and archive.
